The Idea
This hat was designed for my best friend Molly, who I watch and critique historical dramas with. I wanted to make her something beautiful, unique, and wearable for Christmas.
She has these beautiful shoes from American Duchess, which she wears to nearly every formal event. I decided to make something to match!
I found a very beautiful photo from Ilona Millinery, in a hat I have never seen her make again. I took inspiration from this shape, carved a cake dummy to make a block (and gave myself a nasty scar in the process) and steamed millinery woolfelt to make the shape.
